Family & Children’s Agency (FCA)

Family & Children’s Agency (FCA) is a leading nonprofit human service organization committed to building better lives by increasing the social and emotional well-being of children, families, adults, and seniors. Serving more than 13,000 of our neighbors in need each year, FCA offers a wide range of services including adoption.

Family & Children's Agency's (FCA) Adoption Program is one of the largest private adoption agencies in Connecticut, with offices in Norwalk and Branford, Conn., and Harrison, NY and offers adoption services, post-adoption support, birth parent counseling, and adoption search assistance.

FCA is licensed and accredited by State and Federal standards and in accordance with the Hague Treaty to offer international and domestic adoption services. In addition, for the past 40 years FCA has been placing children from South Korea with adoptive families across the United States. FCA works with anyone interested in adoption – same sex couples, single adults, and married couples, and our staff is available to offer help and support through each phase of the adoption process.

In our birth parent counseling department, FCA counselors meet with pregnant women to help them make the best plan for themselves and their baby without pressuring them to make any specific decision. Expectant fathers are also offered counseling and support throughout the process. As part of a larger human services organization, women who choose adoption as well as those who choose to parent can find resources and support at FCA.

FCA recognizes that adoption is a lifelong process and, while it is a wonderful way to build a family, it may bring about challenges. Family & Children's Agency works with the Adoption Assistance Program (AAP) at the University of Connecticut Health Center to offer post-adoption support to families. This program is a confidential assessment, brief counseling, and referral service available to adoptive and guardianship families, regardless of which agency they adopted through.

Finally, FCA also provides search services for adoptees and birth parents who may be looking to learn more information and fill in the missing pieces.
