September 2025 Practice Committee/ACN Forum

The fall CCA Forum and Adoption Community Network semi-annual meeting were held jointly on September 22, 2025 at UConn Health in Farmington. The Forum featured a panel of three guest speakers on the topic of “Closing the Gap: Support for CT young adults on their own”. Our panelists were: Latosha Johnson, Director of Transitional Supports and Success at DCF, Christopher Scott, Executive Director of Sun Scholars, and Deb Kelleher, Annie C. Courtney Foundation. The discussion was lively with a lot of questions from the attendees and great information and resources shared. Ideas were generated about possible changes that could be made by DCF and service providers to offer more connections for youth especially between ages 18-26.

After the panel presentation of about 90 minutes, we moved on to the agenda for the adoption community meeting with updates from individual members, agencies, and DCF, AAP and CAFAF. Our next Forum and A.C.N meeting is planned for March 23, 2025 at UConn Health in Farmington.
