When our children enter our foster and adoptive homes from a history of abuse, trauma and loss, they come with needs, behaviors, and beliefs that have interrupted their healthy growth and development. This workshop, which focuses on four primary essentials of trauma informed parenting, explores the impact of early childhood trauma and offers strategies to maximize a child’s sense of felt safety, help a child to learn to manage overwhelming emotions and behaviors, and how to talk to a child about his past. The workshop will conclude with a discus- sion on a most important topic self-care. Participants will leave with new strategies and practical tools to aid them in cultivating a restorative and healing environment for vulnerable children.

This training is pending approval through NASW for 5.5 continuing education credits. This is included in your registration costs. Proof of attendance is also available for Foster Care Parents.
